API INTEGRATION FOR LEGACY SYSTEMS

Connect the systems your business uses without hiding integration risk.

When older applications and newer services exchange information, unclear ownership, data rules, retries, and errors can disrupt everyday work. IntelliArch helps define and implement integrations that fit the systems and teams involved.

MAKE DATA EXCHANGE PREDICTABLE

An integration is more than an endpoint.

Legacy systems may have limited interfaces, strict data formats, batch windows, or undocumented assumptions. A dependable connection needs clear responsibilities for the information exchanged and for what happens when a call is delayed, rejected, or repeated.

Integration scope can include

  • Map the systems, owners, data flows, and business process the integration supports.
  • Define API contracts, field meanings, validation, versioning, and error responses.
  • Plan authentication, authorization, secret handling, and logging with the system owners.
  • Address timeouts, retries, duplicate requests, partial failure, and reconciliation where relevant.
  • Implement or review C#/.NET integration code and tests within the agreed environment.

FROM REQUIREMENTS TO A TESTABLE CONNECTION

Keep contracts, errors, and ownership visible.

1. Understand the workflow

Identify the systems, users, data, timing, and business decisions involved.

2. Agree the contract

Document inputs, outputs, validation, access, compatibility, and system-of-record responsibilities.

3. Plan failure behavior

Decide how timeouts, retries, duplicates, partial updates, and manual recovery should be handled.

4. Test and hand over

Validate expected and failure paths in an agreed environment and document operational ownership.

Deliverables and limitations

Depending on scope, work may produce a data-flow map, API contract, integration design, test cases, implementation changes, operational notes, and a knowledge-transfer session. External API access, credentials, vendor permissions, and representative test data must be provided or arranged by the relevant owners.

Third-party services can change or impose limits outside IntelliArch's control. A discovery call is not a security certification or a commitment to integrate a system before its interface and terms are reviewed. Delivery scope and responsibilities are agreed before implementation begins.
