AZURE MIGRATION FOR .NET APPLICATIONS

Move a .NET application to Azure with a plan built around its real dependencies.

A cloud move touches more than application code. IntelliArch helps teams understand runtime, data, identity, integrations, operations, and business constraints before choosing a migration path.

THE MIGRATION DECISION

Choose the smallest safe move that meets the business need.

Applications often rely on local file storage, scheduled tasks, databases, network locations, legacy runtimes, and external services. Moving a server without understanding those connections can shift the problem rather than solve it.

The right approach may be to move an application with limited changes, update its hosting model, restructure selected components, or defer a migration until prerequisites are resolved. The trade-offs depend on the system and the outcome the business needs.

Work that can be scoped

  • Inventory application components, .NET runtime requirements, data stores, integrations, and operational dependencies.
  • Identify questions about identity, network access, secrets, backups, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Compare migration options, sequencing, assumptions, and testing needs.
  • Plan a phased move with validation, rollback considerations, and ownership for ongoing operations.
  • Provide implementation guidance or agreed engineering support for selected application changes.

A PHASED PROCESS

Validate the prerequisites before the cutover.

1. Define the target

Agree the business goals, application boundary, constraints, available Azure environment, and decision owners.

2. Map dependencies

Review runtimes, data, identity, integrations, network needs, scheduled work, and operational responsibilities.

3. Select and test a path

Compare realistic migration choices and validate high-risk assumptions in an agreed environment.

4. Transition deliberately

Sequence changes, verify application behavior, plan rollback conditions, and hand over run and support responsibilities.

Deliverables and boundaries

Depending on scope, deliverables may include a dependency map, target-state options, migration backlog, sequencing and effort ranges, test approach, risk register, and implementation support. Azure subscriptions, licensing, tenant configuration, and production approvals remain under the account owner's control unless explicitly agreed otherwise.

A discovery conversation does not include cloud provisioning or a production cutover. Timelines and outcomes depend on access, application compatibility, third-party dependencies, and stakeholder decisions. No savings or migration outcome is guaranteed.
